/tmp.inst filling up?

Post by micklang » Mon Jun 19, 2017 9:53 am

Oh gawd, we are getting the 'John Wayne' on our /tmp.inst directory. We are filling up with the following kinds of files:
.pdf's
.png's
EBERemoteSync's
xmit_ret[userid]
.ppt's
virus_scan_results
krb5cc's

Eventually, these are going to fill that partition up! Why stick that crap in a 'temporary' directory anyways? Only our 10-pound brains know (developers).

To find them, execute the following to locate them:
(as fileadmin/trustedShell in a session window)

Code: Select all

find /tmp.inst -size +2M -exec ls -lh {} \; -print | more
This will allow you to view all files greater than 2 Megabytes in size.

To delete them, use a similar find command to smoke them out. for .pdf's:

Code: Select all

find /tmp.inst -name '*.pdf' -exec rm {} \; -print
Meanwhile, we will discuss with the CHENG on why all this stuff accumulates in this directory.
